Family Pictures

We took family pictures at the beginning of December! I wanted to wait to post pictures until after Christmas :) Here's a HUGE shout out to my friend Kyra Cummings for taking them (kcphotography I hiiiiiighly recommend her) I think being able to capture people's happiness is a real gift. Here are some of my favorites!

4 Months!

Happy 4 Months Lydia Rose!! Time is FLYING by. Lydia is growing so fast! I feel like she does something different every day. My favorite thing about Lydia this month is that she laughs all the time! She laughs at things I don't anticipate she'll think are funny and it always brightens my day.

You weigh: 15 lbs 15 oz
You are: 26.75 inches long (over 100th percentile for height! Woah!)

This month you've enjoyed: Play dates with Liz and Asher, reading lots of books, visits with Nana/Papa and Gram/ Grandpa, stroller rides at the gym, listening to mom sing primary songs, practicing rolling over (you're not too interested in that yet), sitting up in the bumbo to eat dinner with mom and dad (or watch us eat dinner haha), getting hugs and pats from Serena, bath time, kisses from Milo and Maggie, Date night with Daddy while Mom's at work, having a blanket dragged slowly across your face, playing with your stuffed giraffe and lovies, going to your first real babysitter Amy Peterson, playing peek-a-boo (you think it's SOOO funny. Even on the phone skyping David and Katelin), and giving kisses.

What you are doing: lots of talking, putting both hands on our face and giving BIG open mouth kisses on our cheeks when we say "can i have a kiss?", hooking two fingers on your bottom gums and suckling on them, kicking your legs and waving your arms a lot, especially when you're excited, gasping really loud over and over when you're excited, you make a funny loooooong grunting noise we've affectionately named your "baby pterodactyl call" when we're driving in the car, 15 minutes of happy tummy time, putting our hands in your mouth, sucking on blankets, and cuddling close to Dad when you're scared.

We love watching you grow!

Weekends

Because the school week is so busy for Harrison weekends are when we pack in all our family time :) This weekend we spent time together at home watching movies, cleaning the house, and going to the park. I love these pictures of Lydia and Harrison on the bed. Think they're related?

Saturday was the most beautiful day! It's been really cold this week so 45 degree weather felt wonderful! We took advantage and went to the park with the dogs.
Lydia thought these sunglasses were so funny. She left them on the whole walk. Diva baby!

She held Harrison's hand for a little while on the way home and it was super cute :)

Happy Birthday Harrison!

I have been so slow in getting Harrison's birthday post up! Harrison turned 25 November 5th. Yay for no more underage fees to rent a car!!! We had so much fun celebrating.
Wednesday night we went with some friends to BlasterTag. Think paint-balling but with nerf guns. There was an MC who announced different games to play in teams for a hour. It was SO fun! It is definitely going on my top 5 dates list.
Thursday morning we made kneaders french toast for breakfast. Lydia wore her "i love Daddy" outfit. Harrison has been really in to golf the last 6 months. I honestly thought it was a phase that would die out pretty quickly but its turned out to be something he really enjoys. It's been a great stress reliever during school and a good excuse to do something with the guys :) Anyway, I decided to do a golf themed birthday. Since he wanted to go golfing in the morning he got to open his presents after breakfast.

He went golfing in his new get-up :)

After going golfing we ate KFC for lunch (one of Harrison's favorites) and then drove to Draper to wander around Scheels. Going to sports stores is one of Harrison's favorite things to do :) He showed Lydia all the hockey stuff

After Scheels we used a gift card to go dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. I totally forgot it was a sports bar. Lydia was asleep when we got there so when she woke up and saw TVs covering every wall she looked like this. The whole rest of dinner.

We laughed so hard. Poor thing. It was a little over stimulating, I think.

It was a successful day :) I was grateful Harrison's birthday request was to spend time with his family. He worked hard at the beginning of the week so we could spend the whole day together. I got really lucky marrying a guy who's primary love language is also quality time :) Being together is always a win win!

Sunday night we had a combined birthday dinner with both families at Harrison's parent's house. Brats, potatoes, and broccoli with cheese sauce (Tim was thrilled). I asked Aubrey a couple weeks before if she would make Harrison a golf themed birthday cake. Aubrey makes the most amazing cakes! She is super creative. I offered to help knowing full well I wouldn't be able to do much after we actually baked the cake ;) It turns out cakes are actually pretty complicated and time consuming. It took us a total of 8 hours. My claim to fame is the goofy golf guy on top. I made him as a joke (you know those #nailedit pinterest pictures you always see? I was pretty sure it was going to turn out to be one of those, but he turned out ok!) It was so fun to spend time with Aubrey and showing Harrison the finished product was the best! Plus. the cake was SO yummy. I told Aubrey it was so cute on the outside I didn't think it was possible for it to taste good, too. I love that Harrison will let me do cutesy things like themed birthdays. And he's genuinely excited and appreciative. I have never met someone so consistently thoughtful and mindful of my needs, who loves family so deeply. He is goofy, tender, and so smart -his homework gives me anxiety. I am so blessed and I love him with all my heart.

Happy Halloween!

We had a blast celebrating halloween this week. Harrison's afternoon class got canceled on Thursday so he came with me to pick out costumes. We bought Lydia a cat sleeper last month so we were trying to plan something around that. We ended up getting a bunch of yellow and orange things and dressing us as "Lydia's biggest fans" No one recognized me at our ward party. I used some left over felt to make a lion's mane for Lydia. It turned out pretty cute!

Saturday night we went to a halloween party at Aubrey's house. Maya and Ezra are the only grandkids old enough to really enjoy halloween so they had a pose celebrating and trick-or-treating with them :) We all dressed up. We ate chili and treats before trick-or-treating and then made homemade doughnuts when we got back. It was so fun we decided to make it a new tradition! I am so excited for Lydia to be old enough to do fun crafts with on Halloween. I wanted to frost cookies and color pictures and paint pumpkins all day!

We're getting pretty good at taking family selfies :)

We took Lydia to her first Anderson family fast Sunday dinner tonight. We got there early to spend some time with Grammy and Grandpa. She was SO sweet with Grammy! Cooing and smiling. It was so special, especially since she's been crying for everyone who's not mom or dad lately. Grammy is always so excited to spend time with grandkids one on one. She lives for her family :) I love her so much! Unfortunately, that happy mood ended very quickly when everyone else got there. All the noise was a little overwhelming. She stayed cuddled up against Harrison the rest of the night looking ready to burst into tears any second, poor thing. We missed the family reunion over the summer so we were glad to be able to see family we hadn't seen in a long time :)
