Happy Birthday Harrison!

I have been so slow in getting Harrison's birthday post up! Harrison turned 25 November 5th. Yay for no more underage fees to rent a car!!! We had so much fun celebrating.
Wednesday night we went with some friends to BlasterTag. Think paint-balling but with nerf guns. There was an MC who announced different games to play in teams for a hour. It was SO fun! It is definitely going on my top 5 dates list.
Thursday morning we made kneaders french toast for breakfast. Lydia wore her "i love Daddy" outfit. Harrison has been really in to golf the last 6 months. I honestly thought it was a phase that would die out pretty quickly but its turned out to be something he really enjoys. It's been a great stress reliever during school and a good excuse to do something with the guys :) Anyway, I decided to do a golf themed birthday. Since he wanted to go golfing in the morning he got to open his presents after breakfast.

He went golfing in his new get-up :)

After going golfing we ate KFC for lunch (one of Harrison's favorites) and then drove to Draper to wander around Scheels. Going to sports stores is one of Harrison's favorite things to do :) He showed Lydia all the hockey stuff

After Scheels we used a gift card to go dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. I totally forgot it was a sports bar. Lydia was asleep when we got there so when she woke up and saw TVs covering every wall she looked like this. The whole rest of dinner.

We laughed so hard. Poor thing. It was a little over stimulating, I think.

It was a successful day :) I was grateful Harrison's birthday request was to spend time with his family. He worked hard at the beginning of the week so we could spend the whole day together. I got really lucky marrying a guy who's primary love language is also quality time :) Being together is always a win win!

Sunday night we had a combined birthday dinner with both families at Harrison's parent's house. Brats, potatoes, and broccoli with cheese sauce (Tim was thrilled). I asked Aubrey a couple weeks before if she would make Harrison a golf themed birthday cake. Aubrey makes the most amazing cakes! She is super creative. I offered to help knowing full well I wouldn't be able to do much after we actually baked the cake ;) It turns out cakes are actually pretty complicated and time consuming. It took us a total of 8 hours. My claim to fame is the goofy golf guy on top. I made him as a joke (you know those #nailedit pinterest pictures you always see? I was pretty sure it was going to turn out to be one of those, but he turned out ok!) It was so fun to spend time with Aubrey and showing Harrison the finished product was the best! Plus. the cake was SO yummy. I told Aubrey it was so cute on the outside I didn't think it was possible for it to taste good, too. I love that Harrison will let me do cutesy things like themed birthdays. And he's genuinely excited and appreciative. I have never met someone so consistently thoughtful and mindful of my needs, who loves family so deeply. He is goofy, tender, and so smart -his homework gives me anxiety. I am so blessed and I love him with all my heart.
